Alikan
Alikan, the creator of these statues from Afghanistan, has an intriguing biography which accentuates the allure of these pieces. Having left his war-torn country to save his life, Alikan took refuge in Iran and began to work as a superintendent in a small residential building whilst struggling with many financial difficulties.
His artist bent, however, prompted him to exercise his creativity. He used ‘egg boxes’ made of paper mache (found in a mechanical room) and shaped them into a malleable paste to craft various statues. Later, this startling talent was recognized by a local artist who offered to promote these works of art.
This led to several galleries around the world showcasing Alikan’s incredible artistic production. Thanks to his formidable talent, Alikan has enjoyed the successful life of an outstanding artist.
